It saddens me that many believers are so guarded in their faith, hesitant to believe beyond what they see in their circumstances. So often, I hear people say things like, “Maybe it’s God’s will for me to stay this way,” or, “Perhaps He has a different plan.” But these thoughts are not from God. We are not meant to rob ourselves or others with these kinds of philosophies rooted in human understanding. The Bible warns against this: “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ” (Colossians 2:8, KJV).
This grieves me, and I know it grieves God even more. Nowhere in the Bible did Jesus—the perfect embodiment of the Father—ever deny anyone healing or any good thing. He never said, “I’m sorry, you’re not on My list,” or, “I have a better plan, so you’ll have to suffer for My sake.” Jesus didn’t operate that way. In fact, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts 10:38, KJV). Every time someone came to Jesus with faith, He healed them. He didn’t turn anyone away.
There’s also a misunderstanding about suffering. Yes, the apostle Paul experienced suffering, but his suffering was not from sickness. His “thorn in the flesh” was persecution, not illness. These are two entirely different things. Paul’s thorn was a form of opposition, not disease. God does not use sickness to teach lessons or build character. Jesus came to give life and give it more abundantly (John 10:10, KJV), and that includes healing.
Don’t Let Circumstances Define Your Faith
Faith can become locked when we allow our experiences and situations to dictate what we believe about God. Many believers, when going through tough times, think, “Maybe this is God’s will for me.” But that’s not faith—that’s accepting less than what God has for you. Proverbs 3:5 instructs us, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” (KJV). When we lean on our own understanding, we end up interpreting God through the lens of our problems, instead of through the truth of His Word.
But faith isn’t based on circumstances—it’s based on what God has already done. Healing, for instance, isn’t something we need to beg for or hope might happen one day. The Bible clearly states in Isaiah 53:5, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” That healing is already yours because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross. There’s no waiting for it—it’s available now.
It’s Already Done: A Finished Work
One of the biggest misconceptions is that we need to wait for God’s timing to receive what Jesus has already paid for. The truth is, everything Jesus accomplished—healing, salvation, provision—was completed through the atonement. It’s already yours. When Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30, KJV), He meant it. There’s nothing left to be done. Everything He provided through His death and resurrection is available to you the moment you believe.
Healing isn’t reserved for a select few, nor does God give it randomly at certain times. No, healing belongs to you now, just as forgiveness of sins belongs to you. You don’t have to wonder whether God will heal you—He already has! Faith is simply the act of receiving what already belongs to you.
Faith Looks Beyond the Visible
The challenge is that circumstances often don’t align with what God’s Word says. Maybe the symptoms are still there, or the situation hasn’t changed yet. But real faith looks beyond the visible and trusts in the unseen. As it says in 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (KJV). This means we don’t base our belief on what we can see or feel with our natural senses, but on what God has already promised in His Word.
Imagine you had a check in your hand, already signed and cashed. You wouldn’t question whether the money was yours—you’d know it was. The same is true with healing. Jesus already paid the price for it. It’s been signed, sealed, and delivered. Your responsibility is not to hope for it in the future but to claim it right now by faith.
Unlocking What’s Already Yours
The key to unlocking what is already yours in Christ is to change your mindset. Stop asking God for something He’s already given you. Instead, begin to thank Him for what you already have in Christ. Declare it over your life. Speak His Word with authority. Romans 4:17 speaks of “calleth those things which be not as though they were” (KJV). That’s how faith works—it believes God’s Word even when circumstances seem contrary.
And remember this: “Our experiences and circumstances are not meant to fill in the blanks when we lack understanding. Let the Word interpret the Word, not your circumstances.” Sickness and lack are not God’s will for you. Don’t let your current situation speak louder than God’s truth. The finished work of Christ means healing, provision, and every other promise of God belongs to you now.
Stop Waiting, Start Believing
There’s no need to wait any longer. God’s promises are “Yea, and in him Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20, KJV). That means it’s already done. Healing is yours. Provision is yours. Everything you need has been provided through the cross. Jesus didn’t die for you to sit and hope one day you might receive what He paid for. It’s already finished—step into it by faith today.
Don’t let your faith get locked by what you see or feel. Like Peter walking on water in Matthew 14, as long as his eyes were on Jesus, he rose above the storm. The moment he focused on the wind and the waves—his circumstances—he began to sink. That’s what happens when we let circumstances dictate our faith. But when we fix our eyes on Jesus and what He’s already accomplished, we unlock the power of God in our lives.
In conclusion, don’t get faith locked. Healing, provision, and every promise in the Word are already yours. Jesus completed the work on the cross, and it’s now up to you to believe and walk in it. Don’t settle for less than what Jesus died to give you. It’s finished—claim it today.
