Writing Through Doubts: Finding Strength in Words and Faith

What are your biggest challenges?

Pinpointing my biggest challenges isn’t a walk in the park. I’m usually the one rallying others, but truth be told, my own struggles reside within me. Writing and the Bible? They’ve been my go-tos. It’s fascinating how they help me navigate some insecurities while occasionally pushing me to confront aspects of myself too.

Growing up, meeting people’s expectations felt like an uphill battle. Hurtful comments from close ones took a toll, making me doubt myself. And despite making progress, those doubts sneak back in at times, hitting hard.

Writing and the Bible became my refuge during rough times, especially amidst emotional and physical abuse, and encounters with bullies.

Just a few months ago, I launched my first book, ‘The Gladiator’s Mask.’ It’s been a bit slower than I hoped—more copies given away than sold. It stings, no denying that. But you know what? I’m learning. Being a new author is no cakewalk, and patience? Well, it’s becoming my best friend. Each copy, whether sold or given away, feels like a step in the right direction. Every reader, every person touched by my words, that’s what keeps me going. Slow progress is still progress, right? So, I’m embracing this journey, taking it one step at a time. Who knows? Maybe one day, those slow sales will turn into a landslide of support. Until then, I’m writing, learning, and growing, and that’s a pretty amazing journey in itself.

  3. Keep up the good spirit. I can relate to giving away more copies than selling. It can be demoralizing, but in those moments I remind myself that while I would like to share my thoughts with others, I primarily write for myself and since that’s been accomplished, it’s a win! Keep writing and maybe one day the sales will cascade.
