What was your favorite subject in school?

Past Lessons

History was like my secret treasure in school. It was this magical key that unlocked stories from way back—some filled with joy, others with a bit of a struggle. Every time I dove into a historical moment, whether it was a high-five victory or a tough-as-nails challenge, it sparked this curiosity that made me see today in a whole new light.

Picture this: The Bible, with Ecclesiastes dropping some wisdom bombs like, “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9). It’s like a reminder that history loves doing a rerun. And guess what? Now we have the power to hit pause and stop the rerun of the not-so-great stuff.

Then, there’s Winston Churchill, the historical hype man, saying, “The more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future.” It’s like having a cheat code for life—knowing history helps us handle today and sneak a peek at what might come our way tomorrow.

And let’s not forget George Santayana, the guy who dropped this truth bomb: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” It’s like a wake-up call to learn from history, so we’re not stuck in a loop of making the same not-so-awesome choices or should I say—this is how you break insanity!

So, as we hop through time, let’s savor the mix of history—the thrilling victories and the heart-tugging struggles. With Ecclesiastes as our guide, we’re standing right on the edge of the past, armed with knowledge to shape a future that’s not just a replay of the same old stories. It’s like having a front-row seat to the greatest show ever, and we’re not just spectators; we’re the storytellers of tomorrow.
