In Christ – Your New Spiritual Address

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. -2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

Everything God has ever done for you-every promise, every blessing, every victory-He accomplished in Christ. There’s no salvation, no righteousness, no healing, no inheritance apart from being in Him .

When you made Jesus your Lord, God didn’t just tweak your old life; He performed a divine transplant. He took you out of the dominion of darkness and planted you squarely in Christ. That’s not a goal you’re chasing-it’s your new spiritual address, fixed and unchangeable, right now!

Let’s get this straight: this isn’t about you striving to be better. It’s about a union -a legal, vital connection with Jesus. You were born in Adam, under the curse of sin, chained to spiritual death and Satan’s authority. But the moment you believed, God executed a judicial act.

Colossians 1:13 says He delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. That word translated means you were picked up and relocated. Your old address in Adam-sin, guilt, defeat-was terminated at the cross. Your new address is in Christ , and it’s permanent.

This is no gradual process. The Word doesn’t say you’re becoming a new creature-it says you are one. The instant you were born again, your spirit was recreated, made alive with God’s own life. Galatians 2:20 declares, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. You were crucified with Him, buried with Him, raised with Him ( Romans 6:4-6 ).

Your old man-the sin-stained, defeated you-doesn’t exist anymore. A new creation, a brand-new species of being, was born at the resurrection. That’s you!

Now, let’s go deeper. Being in Christ means you possess everything He is and has. Romans 8:17 calls you a joint-heir with Christ. His righteousness? It’s yours. His victory over sin, death, and the devil? Credited to your account. His standing before the Father? That’s your standing.

You’re not a beggar, scraping for blessings at Heaven’s gate. You’re seated with Christ in heavenly places ( Ephesians 2:6 ), with full access to the riches of God’s grace. 2 Corinthians 5:21 nails it: He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. You’re as righteous as Jesus Himself—because you’re in Him .

But here’s where many believers stumble. Your spirit is reborn, perfect in Christ, but your soul-your mind, will, and emotions-may still carry old habits, doubts, or fears. Your body might still respond to the flesh. That’s why Romans 12:2 tells us to renew our minds with the Word.

Your feelings don’t define you. Your failures don’t define you. The Word alone tells you who you are: a new creation in Christ . When you look at your past or your struggles for identity, you’re checking the wrong address. Your real self-the inward man-is God’s workmanship, created in righteousness and true holiness ( Ephesians 4:24 ).

Let’s talk authority. Because you’re in Christ , you’re not fighting for victory-you’re fighting from victory. Jesus already defeated Satan at the cross ( Colossians 2:15 ). That triumph belongs to you. You’re not trying to overcome the devil; he’s already under your feet ( Romans 16:20 ).

When sickness, lack, or fear try to knock on your door, you don’t answer with feelings or circumstances-you answer with the Word. You’re in Christ , and that’s where your authority starts.

Think of it like this: in Adam, you were bound by sin’s laws, like a prisoner in a condemned cell. But in Christ, you’ve been set free, moved to a new kingdom with new laws-laws of life, liberty, and righteousness. You don’t live by the old rules anymore. You live by faith in what God says about you.

Philemon 1:6 says your faith becomes effective when you acknowledge every good thing in you in Christ Jesus . So, stop confessing the old man’s failures. Start confessing your new identity. Speak the Word. Declare your position. That’s how you walk in this reality.

Your spiritual address is settled. You’re not waiting for God to make you new-you are new. The old man is dead, and the new man is alive in Christ. Your job now? Believe it. Live it. Let the Word shape your thinking, your speaking, your acting.

You’re not defined by yesterday’s mistakes or today’s feelings. You’re defined by your union with Jesus. That’s your reality, and that’s where your victory lies.

Confession:

I am in Christ ! God has delivered me from the dominion of darkness and translated me into the kingdom of His Son. My past is erased-sin, guilt, and defeat are gone. My spirit is reborn, created in righteousness and true holiness.

I’m not who I was; I’m a new creature, alive with Christ’s life. His righteousness is my righteousness. His victory is my victory. I’m not begging or striving-I’m an heir of God, a joint-heir with Jesus. I walk in His authority, live by His Word, and stand secure in my new address: in Christ !
