Leaving a Legacy of Faith and Love

What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints. —Colossians 1:4, NKJV

When considering the legacy I want to leave behind, the answer is clear: a legacy of faith in Jesus Christ. This legacy is not just about beliefs or traditions but a testament to a life lived with purpose, not perfectly but consistently. It’s deeply rooted in the love I have shared with my family and the impact that love has had on our journey of faith.

Walking the path of faith has never been about achieving perfection. It has been a journey marked by grace, growth, and unwavering trust in Jesus Christ. Throughout my life, I have strived to live out my faith authentically, letting it guide my actions and interactions. My hope is that this walk of faith will be a beacon for my family, lighting the way even in times of uncertainty.

One key element of this legacy is understanding that faith is a consistent journey, not a destination. There have been moments of doubt, mistakes, and struggles, but through it all, my commitment to following Jesus has remained. This consistency, despite imperfections, is what I hope my family will remember. It’s the daily acts of prayer, kindness, and love that form the bedrock of a lived faith.

At the heart of this legacy is love. The love I have for my wife, Penny, my daughters, Hannah and Bethany, and my grandchildren, Gage, Izzy, and Wade, reflects the love Christ has shown me. This love has driven me to live a life of faith, care for others, and seek justice and mercy. My faith has been demonstrated through acts of love—whether it’s listening to a hurting friend, offering a helping hand, or simply being present in times of need. These acts, born out of love, are the true markers of the faith I wish to leave behind.

I desire for this legacy of faith to be passed down through generations. My prayer is that my family will see in my life an example of a steadfast relationship with Jesus. I want them to know that their faith is a shared inheritance that connects them to something greater. It is my hope that they will carry forward this legacy, adding their own stories of faith, and continuing the journey with the same love and commitment.

The impact of a faithful legacy is profound. It provides a foundation of hope, resilience, and purpose. In times of joy and sorrow, faith offers a source of strength and comfort. It teaches the importance of compassion, humility, and service to others. By leaving behind a legacy of faith, I hope to equip my family with the spiritual tools they need to navigate life’s challenges and find true fulfillment in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

In the end, the legacy I wish to leave is one where my family remembers me not just for my faith, but for the love that made that faith real. It is a legacy that speaks of a life devoted to Jesus, lived out in everyday actions and anchored in love. This legacy, I believe, will endure far beyond my lifetime, continuing to inspire and guide my family for generations to come. I want my family to carry this legacy forward and pass it down to their children and their children’s children, ensuring that our family’s faith and love in Christ remain strong and enduring.
